How does it work?
To make our YXY building blocks we use a novel, proprietary production process developed by Avantium. We convert carbohydrates, using a chemical production process, into green materials an fuels. Carbohydrates are the most abundantly available source of carbon on earth. YXY building blocks for green materials and fuels can compete on price and performance with conventional products.

In the heart of our process is the catalyst that enables the conversion of carbohydrates into our YXY building blocks. Our production process offers numerous benefits: it is an efficient, fast, low-cost production route and it can be produced in existing chemical production plants. To roll out the YXY technology to produce green building blocks you can build new production plants on basis of our technology, but you can also retrofit existing assets.
