What is YXY?

Almost every product we use in daily life is somehow derived from oil, the natural resource that has given us prosperity, but also negative effects such as air, water and soil pollution.

 

The green way to produce materials and fuels

We developed the patented YXY technology for making biobased materials and fuels that can compete on price and performance with oil-based alternatives. It can replace oil as raw material for beverage bottles such as water bottles, clothing, carpets, fuels and a wide variety of plastics.

 

We unlocked the Furanics potential

With the YXY technology we are enabling the economic production of a new category of green products called Furanics. Furanics are bio-based building blocks for a range of materials, chemicals and fuels. They have an enormous potential for the production of bio-based plastics and chemicals.Until today, Furanics had not been commercialized because the production was not yet cost-effective. We changed the game by developing the breakthrough YXY technology that allows for the cost-effective production of Furanics.

 

PEF 100% bio-based alternative to PET

Our lead Furanic application made with the YXY technology is PEF (Polyethylene Furanoate), a new to the world plastic. It is 100% bio-based and 100% recyclable. Based on the performance of PEF, we believe PEF will become the next-generation bio-based plastic. Exceptional material properties make PEF suitable as future beverage packaging materials.
